Observation start time: 09:00:00 Observation end time: 15:00:00 Total observation time: 6 hours
Official Counter: Katrina Fenton
Observers: Dick Haas, Levi Burford, Mark Timmerman, Marsha Haas
Visitors: There were 39 visitors to the hawk watch, including 16 Worcester AMC hikers and an all-women hiking group that came through late in the day.
Weather: Monument Valley seemed to have replaced the White Mountains, and the Green Mountains as well for a time. Peaks grew spires that widened and flattened into buttes, arcs, and hanging rocks that would gradually separate from their bases and float until they dissolved away. The wind was out of the southwest at 20-25mph, and only a few patches of sunshine found their way through the overcast. Temperatures hovered in the mid 30s.
Raptor Observations: Not much flying in the south wind. There were almost as many Red-tailed Hawks lingering to hunt the ridge as there were migrants.
Non-raptor Observations: Non-raptor Day List: Blue Jay- 2 Common Raven- 22 Pileated Woodpecker- 1 Golden-crowned Kinglet- 2 White-throated Sparrow- 1 Common Raven- 22 ======================================================================== Report submitted by Katrina Fenton (<gosknits...>) Pack Monadnock Raptor Migration Observatory information may be found at: www.nhaudubon.org
