Observation start time: 09:00:00 Observation end time: 13:00:00 Total observation time: 4 hours
Official Counter: Ken Klapper
Observers: Crawford Lyons
Visitors: Nineteen, including a friendly couple who have just returned to the Granite State after many years in the Fredericksburg, VA area.
Weather: Low clouds, increasing by noon, then a steady light rain by 1240. A light east wind. Temps from the mid 40s to the low 50s.
Raptor Observations: A welcome continuation of yesterday's nice late push of raptors, including several excellent close looks at adult Red-shoulders and sharpies.
Non-raptor Observations: Notable species include a close flyover group of eight Horned Larks, five Eastern Bluebirds, a large flock of Common Grackles (about 250) settling into the tree line on the east side of the orchard in the morning, and small groups of Ring-billed and Herring gulls moving west.
Predictions: Bands of rain, mostly in the afternoon. Given the flights of the past few days I think it's more than likely some raptors will try to sneak by in the morning! ======================================================================== Report submitted by Ken Klapper (<kklapper...>) Carter Hill Observatory information may be found at: www.nhaudubon.org
