A harrier flew over a newly picked cornfield on Henderson Road south of Ridgeway Saturday morning. And not Minnesota, but close enough, two whooping cranes were observed flying near the Marshland entrance to Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge by my Ornithology class on Thursday afternoon. Wow! The refuge manager says this is the first report of whooping cranes at TNWR.
