Observation start time: 08:30:00 Observation end time: 15:30:00 Total observation time: 7 hours
Official Counter: Iain MacLeod
Observers: Al Grimstad, Meade Cadot, Mike Gebo, Welsh Narron
Visitors: About 50.
Weather: Very hot and hazy. Light east winds. By afternoon spectacular cumulus clouds had formed to make a hawkwatcher's dream sky. If only there were birds to fill it.
Raptor Observations: A dribble of birds throughout the day with just a few small squadrons on Broadwings looking like the last stragglers of the migration.
Non-raptor Observations: The Ravens showed up in big numbers today (at least 40) and were playing and tumbling in the sky throughout. Sharp-shins took the bait occasionally and strafed to big black brutes but an Osprey did not appreciate the game of chase with one determined raven.
Predictions: More heat and haze. More of the same. I'm ready for a frost! ======================================================================== Report submitted by Iain MacLeod (<pandiain.im...>) Pack Monadnock Raptor Migration Observatory information may be found at: www.nhaudubon.org
