Total observation time: 3 hours

Official Counter: Baron Gibson, Randy Doss

Observers: Allen & Robin Austin, Baron & Tina Gibson, Barry Kinzie,
Bill & Katie James, Dale, Dave Brunstetter,
Dillard Childress, John Pancake, Matt Hosmer, Tad Finnell,
phillip ferguson

Visitors:
Today was the annual breakfast put on by Barry Kinzie with sausage gravy &
biscuits along with some other treats. Roanoke bird club was on hand for a
morning of "dicki bird" watching with 12-15 species observed. Many of the
regulars & parkway goers.

Weather:
Westerly winds until the last couple of hours of watch when they switched
easterly with warm temps & a light cloud cover all watch. Visibility was a
4 with less haze then the last couple of days.

Raptor Observations:
Broad wings started late in the 9 - 10 hour on the east side far out &
continued until the 12 - 1 hour with several nice groups coming closer &
over the watch. Then a long lull cam with nothing coming through for 1 1/2
hrs when dan spotted a group coming over the watch just to the west side
with 98 hawks counted as they streamed out. BW's by hours, 9-10 (100),
10-11 (160), 11-12 (143), 12-1 (258), 1-2 (0), 2-3 (98).

AEBE @ 12:04 (our 100th this season)
Imm BE (non aged) @ 12:25

Another highlight were the two imm NH that came through in the 11-12 hour
giving us great looks while leisurely making there way through the watch
heading SW

Non-raptor Observations:
Randy held the watch until the last 2 hours of watch & I took over until
the end.

If the winds had been easterly early I feel we would have had many more
hawks as the westerly winds seem to push the broadies east of the watch &
out of viewing range.

Monarchs moving in good numbers. While no official count was conducted, i
would say well 50 was seen.

Predictions:
Similar to today with hopefully easterly winds.
