Observation start time: 08:00:00 Observation end time: 14:30:00 Total observation time: 6.5 hours
Official Counter: Dave Eberly, John Mercer
Observers: Al Guarente, Bob Kelly, Charles Smith, Chuck Root, Dave Eberly, John Mercer, Judy Mayer, Mike Cosgrove, Tom Bush
Visitors: Sam Mayer, Dan Hayes
Weather: Warm day-The skies were mostly clear in the morning & became partly cloudy in the afternoon. Temp reached the low 80s F. There was a nice fresh N & NE breeze that we hoped would bring more birds than it did
Raptor Observations: The birds were very high in the mostly clear deep blue skies making viewing conditions difficult especially in the morning. The morning did feature a trickle of migrants between 10 & 1 Along with red-tails, a Cooper's hawk & a red-shouldered hawk that were deemed to be non migrating. There were also 2 adult bald eagles flying around the reservoir & not counted as migrants.
Non-raptor Observations: Lots of chimney swifts. The maximum counted at one time was ~150. They did seem to be moving SW in waves so presumably lots & lots of migrants passed over.
Predictions: Sunny, with a high near 84. North wind 9 to 11 mph. ======================================================================== Report submitted by David Eberly (<david.eberly...>) Rose Tree Park information may be found at: www.rtphawkwatch.org
