Brent, Thanks for the ‘plug’ for the Jackson-Calhoun Counties CBC on Wednesday, December 27. There is a minor typo in my email address. Folks who would like to help with the Jackson-Calhoun CBC can email me at <bird.fried...>
Thanks very much! Bob Friedrichs Palacios

It is hard to be thinking about CBCs after all we have recently been through with Hurricane Harvey: health issues, destroyed/damaged homes and property, days without power, and extensive amount of work getting our lives back to "normal".
I will be completing my annual article next week on highest tallies of individual species within the United States. That is normally the trigger for me to send notices of CBC dates. The Annual CBC Edition will be sent out by Audubon in November.
The CBC season runs from 14 December thru 5 January.
14 December is Thursday and the Guadalupe River Delta - McFaddin Family Ranches is always held on the 1st Thursday
18 December is Monday and Matagorda County - Mad Island Marsh is always held on the 1st Monday
19 December - the 2nd running of the Powderhorn CBC will be held. You can contact the compiler Daniel Walker at <daniel.walker...>
27 December is the traditional date for the Jackson-Calhoun counties CBC. You can contact the compiler Bob Friedrichs at <bird.gried...>
28 December is the date for the Rockport CBC. You can contact the compiler Claudia Dorn at <catbirddorn...>
There are several groups across Texas who compile CBC dates. As soon as you establish the date for your count, share it with these groups so we all can schedule our holidays.
We will be using your CBC data to try to determine impacts of Hurricane Harvey and other factors affecting our avian community.
There is still much work to do to get back to "Normal" following Harvey. Good Luck and Take Care.
