Subject: [wisb] Ospreys around Lake Kegonsa and more
Driving by the 2 active osprey nests almost daily
and amazed how long this process is taking.
After looking up the time factors for eggs, young and fledging on-line
I would say these are *still* the first young of the season.
The Rough-legged Hawks I studied in Sweden took this long but
that was in the Arctic region!
Today, the two active nests each still had 2 young
which were crying for food or
eating what was supplied by a nearby third party.
The third nest seems to be empty and
the fourth did not host ospreys this season.
Have been walking my area and tracking
what species are still present and/or singing/calling.
Is anyone still hearing Wood Thrush for example??
