I visited Eggers Grove Forest Preserve (entrance at 112th & Avenue "E," Chicago) on Saturday morning (8 July 2017). A continuing NORTHERN BOBWHITE was heard giving its unmistakable “Bob-White” call at the regular slag flats location (Burnham Greenway Bicycle Trail just south of 118th Street). Birds I was able to photograph included BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON, RED-HEADED WOODPECKER, GRAY CATBIRD, and a pair of MUTE SWANS. I also took some photos of a WHITE-TAILED DEER doe, and a nearby buck with 2 fawns.
