Subject: Mt Auburn BBC trip 19th May - Gray-cheeked Thrush, Mourning Warbler
The BBC trip this morning found a Gray-cheeked Thrush at Spectacle Pond (northern section). Later confirmed by Chris Floyd, I was told. Half a dozen Swainson's Thrushes, several locations. Veery.
Also a Mourning Warbler down from Laurel Circle, near Mound Ave. Singing, and seen by a few around 8.30am.
Lots of Magnolias, Blackpolls and Redstarts today.
Flickers performing a courtship dance on the path by Halcyon Pond.
Great Horned Owl was sitting out about 15 feet above the pond, suspiciously close to the scene of the crime from Wednesday night, when the female Mallard was tragically murdered. The surviving male should probably think about moving on.
