My reporting area includes all of Lehigh and Northampton Counties with the
northern edge of the area reaching Beltzville State Park and the southern
edge reaching Peace Valley Park in Bucks County. Updates are typically done
every Friday, more often when necessary.
There will be a field trip for beginning birders to the Monocacy Nature
Center on April 22nd. Meet at the Illicks Mill Road parking lot at 8:00 AM.
Trip leaders will be Stephen Kloiber and Sue Mahan.
There will be a field trip to Housenick Park in Bethlehem Township on April
29th. Meet at Housenick Park at 8:30 AM. Trip leader will be Scott Burnet.
There will also be a field trip to the Bethlehem Boat Club on April 30th.
Meet at the Park & Ride lot at the William Penn Highway exit off Route 33,
just south of Route 22 at 7:30 AM. I will be leading this trip.
Another April 20th field trip will be to the Lehigh Parkway. Trip leader
will be Barbara Malt.

Sightings from JACOBSBURG STATE PARK, Northampton County:
Louisiana Waterthrushes – 2 on 4/19.
Sightings from BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP, Northampton County:
At the Farmersville Road / Wilson Avenue area:
YELLOW-THROATED WARBLERS – 2 back on 4/9.
Also Great Crested Flycatcher.
Sightings from the MONOCACY NATURE CENTER, Northampton County:
Orchard Oriole – 1 on 4/18.
Sightings from BELTZVILLE STATE PARK, Carbon County:
WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS – 6 on 4/20
Red-breasted Mergansers – 2 from 4/12 to 4/18
LITTLE GULL – 1 back on 4/12.
Sightings from the PENN FOREST RESERVOIR area, Carbon County:
RED-THROATED LOON – 1 back on 4/7.

Along Cetronia Road (across from Air Products):
Dunlin – 1 on 4/19.
Also Green-winged and Blue-winged Teal, and Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs.

YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER – 1 on 4/15.
Sightings from LAKE TOWHEE, Bucks County:
TRUMPETER SWAN – 1 back on 4/10 and 4/12.
Sightings from LAKE NOCKAMIXON, Bucks County:
TRUMPETER SWAN – 1 on 4/18
GREATER SCAUP – 1 on 4/18.
Sightings from PEACE VALLEY PARK, Bucks County:
Ruddy Ducks – 101 back on 4/12
Red-breasted Mergansers – 1 back on 4/8; 2 back on 4/11 and 4/12
Double-crested Cormorants – 105 on 4/15
Merlin – 1 on 4/12 and 4/15
Caspian Tern – 1 back on 4/10.
Also Wilson's Snipe, Purple Martin, Brown Creeper, Winter Wren,
Golden-crowned Kinglet, and Palm Warbler.
Green Heron, Osprey, Bald Eagle, Broad-winged Hawk, Red-breasted Nuthatch,
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, and Yellow-rumped Warbler were noted from several
sites this past week.
Other arrivals included Chimney Swift, House Wren, Gray Catbird, Brown
Thrasher, and Black-and-white Warbler.
