Subject: [birders] Swan chasing a goose
At Gallup, from the shore by first parking lot, watched a swan chasing a
goose, starting at the boat dock, going all the way to the Huron Pkwy
bridge, and back again. The goose hopped up onto land, the swan stayed in
the water, and backed away from the shore a bit. The goose jumped back into
the water. That only reactivated whatever was stimulating the swan and this
time he followed the goose onto the land. The goose must have "decided" he
had had enough, turned around, and took a few steps towards the swan. The
swan jumped back into the water, leaving the goose on the land. Was what I
saw unusual in any way?
