A couple hours of banding at the Purdue Wildlife Area in western Tippecanoe County yielded some good birds for the early spring - our first Brown Thrasher and Yellow-rumped Warbler in the hand, for instance. But the best bird was a singing female-plumaged Purple Finch, apparently a male hatched last year.
