Subject: [[enviro-semich] ] Lake St. Clair Master Plan & Natural Resources Public Input Meetings - Metroparks. Saturday Mar. 25. 9 AM
Public participation is invited at the Metroparks Natural Resource Dept. presentation and the first (of two) master planning meetings for Lake St. Clair Metropark. The Natural Resource presentation starts at 9 AM, and provides background on the ongoing stewardship at the parks.
There has been substantial progress at LSCMP with adjacent wetlands and the conversion of the massive parking lot to manage storm water runoff with bioswales.
This would also be an opportunity to express concerns, eg about the inappropriate mowing of meadows in July a few years ago that resulted in loss of a number of fledglings, wildflowers, and the habitat they provided. The Natural Resource Dept. plans to revise the grassland management plan this year; the previous plan designated many new areas for annual mowing and substantially increased the number of acres mowed..
The Master Planning session that follows is informal, not a formal presentation, but allows tor staff present to gather public comments.
A second master planning meeting will be scheduled (in typically about two months) to provide a summary of findings, gather additional comments that will be used to prepare the master plan report for Metroparks Board of Commissioner approval.
Meeting info is at the link below. An online survey is available for public input. The Metroparks planning website includes links to master plans for some other parks that have already been completed.
