Subject: [NHBirds] CT Valley waterfowl migration
A count from Charlestown to Hinsdale/vernon area today.

Canada Goose about 4000, mainly at Charlestown and Putney Meadows (reduction of about 3000 from previous count 10 days ago)

Wood duck 10

Hooded Merg 110 (mainly at Hinsdale)

Common Merg 90 (mainly Hinsdale)

N. Pintail 11 (Charlestown)

Am Wigeon 14 (mainly Charlestown)

Black Duck 150 (scattered throughout)

Mallard 300 (ditto)

Gadwall 1 (Hinsdale)

Green-winged teal 11 (Hinsdale)

Ring-necked duck 120 (Hinsdale)

Greater scaup 1 (Hinsdale)

L. Scaup 1( ditto)

Bufflehead 6 (Hinsdale)

Comm Goldeneye 30 (mainly Hinsdale)

Also seen single kestrels at Westminster and Charlestown, 8 killdeer at Charlestown.

So, looks like CAGO passage has moved through and numbers are falling. Just 10 days ago there was a flock of 3500 in the Vernon area, now down to a few hundred! Other waterfowl migration just getting going.
