Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] bunch of low-end rarities
The past several days I've had a bunch of low-end rarities:

Merlin:  the second suckleyi-type present in South County was in western residential Imperial Beach on 4 Dec

Dark-eyed Junco:  continuing mostly-Slate-colored type at PLNU, and a male Slate-colored (probably returning from last winter) and an intergrade (w/ Oregon?) at Friendship Park in Chula Vista

White-crowned Sparrow: an immature dark-lored (presumably oriantha) at Camp Surf in Imperial Beach/Coronado

Black-and-white Warbler: continuing adult female/immature male downtown at Pantoja Park (especially in the trees at the northeast corner of the main plaza); and new male at Friendship Park in Chula Vista

Nashville Warbler: singles at Liberty Station (tipus) and along Chula Vista bayshore (meloleucas)

American Redstart: new female-type in Nestor/Palm City in carrotwood trees at corner of Cantamar X Cerrissa; continuing, returning adult male downtown at Seaport Village (around the small pond next to the Malibu Farms restaurant); new immature male only 250 yards away from the adult male, in adjoining Embarcadero Marina Park (in trees at the turnaround at end of road/parking lot)

Yellow Warbler: one returning for over 5 years (probably closer to 7) at corner of Hollister X Sunset in TRV, and three birds at Liberty Station tipu parking lots where regular in winter

Black-thr. Gray Warbler:  1 in Liberty Station tipus; so far this species seems to be in somewhat below-average numbers during the past month

Summer Tanager: continuing female-type in upper Presidio Park and a new bird at Lauderbach Park in Chula Vista, which for the second individual in a week was an entirely mustard-yellow bird in actual full song

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
