Weather: Steady rain delayed the count until the mid-afternoon. After the rain stopped the sun came out. Mostly cloudy becoming partly cloudy. Quite warm and humid. Light to moderate south winds.
Raptor Observations: A lot of vultures got up once it cleared up with 35 Turkey Vultures migrating. Four Bald Eagles, 2 sharpies, and a Coop. Some non-migrating red-tails. The highlight was a juvenile Peregrine Falcon that soared around for several minutes in the early evening light. That was a treat since we have had such a low season for them (this is only the 8th).
Predictions: Tomorrow: Partly cloudy. Gusty winds in the afternoon. High 58F. Winds W at 20-30mph. Higher gusts possible. Overly strong winds that will be difficult for the hawks and uncomfortable for the hawk watchers. Perhaps the larger raptors will be on the move. Expect moderate migration.
Saturday: Generally sunny with a few afternoon clouds. High 61F. Winds WNW at 10-20mph. Decent winds, though still strong enough to make viewing uncomfortable. Raptors should be on the move though spotting may be difficult if there aren't many clouds. Expect moderate migration.
Sunday: Partly cloudy. High 62F. Winds light and variable. Expect moderate migration. ======================================================================== Report submitted by David Brown (<davidebrownpa...>) Ashland Nature Center information may be found at: www.delnature.org
