Visitors: 10, including Batman and Chaos
Weather: Mostly cloudy early becoming mostly sunny. Steady moderate to strong west winds with occasional stronger gusts. Fairly warm.
Raptor Observations: The strong winds had a fair number of raptors up but migration felt slow overall. Some Bald Eagles were soaring high but most migrants were quite low. Turkey Vultures and Bald Eagles made up the bulk of the flight. A handful of harriers, Accips, and Buteo. A Merlin was seen hunting.
Non-raptor Observations: 40 Canada Geese, 25 Wood Ducks, Eastern Phoebe, Common Raven, 500 European Starlings, 25 Purple Finches, 5,000+ Common Grackles, no monarchs.
Predictions: Tomorrow: Sunny with a few afternoon clouds. High 61F. Winds WNW at 10-20mph. A decent wind direction, though maybe a tad stronger than ideal. Could be a good day for eagles. Spotting could be difficult if there aren't many clouds. Expect moderate migration.
Sunday: Mostly sunny. High 63F. Winds light and variable. Expect moderate migration.
Monday: Cloudy then partial clearing. High 63F. Winds light and variable. Expect light to moderate migration. ======================================================================== Report submitted by David Brown (<davidebrownpa...>) Ashland Nature Center information may be found at: www.delnature.org
