Hi -
I spent much of the day today watching the Ghost Dogwood Tree at Airlie. Its fruit are ripe, and are attracting lots of birds. Today, among the flocks of Eastern Bluebirds and smaller numbers of 11 other species, I observed a Red-eyed Vireo and a Blue-winged Warbler. Both seem very late - I would expect them to be in South America by now.
I also had a thrush that I suspect was Swainson's, but did not see it well enough to confirm.
Other birds feeding in the tree today: Red-bellied Woodpecker Northern Flicker Eastern Phoebe Blue-headed Vireo Hermit Thrush American Robin Northern Mockingbird Gray Catbird Ruby-crowned Kinglet Orange-crowned Warbler Yellow-rumped Warbler
