Broad-billed Hummingbird (Cynanthus latirostris) (1)
- Reported Nov 18, 2024 07:35 by Roger Hammer
- Cypress Ave, San Luis Obispo, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.9031626&<ll...>,-120.9031626 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S202970460 - Comments: "cont. bird at a local condo residence on 2nd story balcony nectar feeders. upon arrival first heard the hummer rattling agitatedly in the pepper tree diagonally across the street. waited 15-20 min before target bird arrived. decided not to attempt pics as camera would be pointing right at the window; i am uncomfortable enough pointing binocs at a residence window.. learned later from TE post to stay off property, which I did anyway. as there is no parking on either side of road, park on the nearby cross street and walk in. sheer delight was felt when bird finally arrived; only stayed 30 sec before all birds spooked. ANHU came right back but another 5 min did not yield a return visit from BBHU. no luck either after briefly stopping again after surfing nearby. bird similar size to Annas. orangish long bill and bright blue throat charachteristic."
