I've been meaning to post all week, but busy and not getting it done.
If anyone is looking to find Western Bluebirds, Fort Lowell Park is a
pretty good bet right now. For the past 10 days or so, we've been
encountering them in several areas around the park. The baseball field
east of the big pond is a good area, as is the tall eucalyptus between that
field and the north end of the orchard.
And around Cottonwood Lane, the pistache tree near the southwest restroom,
etc. Sometimes in separate group, but often in mixed flocks with house
finches, goldfinches, white-crowned sparrows and lark sparrows.
They were showing off their blue quite beautifully this morning in the
sunlight coming between the clouds. Looks like at least 25 around,
although I'm guessing there may be more than that, or they just follow us
around to confuse me. :-)
