Costa's Hummingbird (Calypte costae) (1)
- Reported Nov 14, 2024 14:30 by Tanner Martin
- Eagle Point Home, Jackson, Oregon
- Map:
http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-122.8076742&<ll...>,-122.8076742 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S202503115 - Media: 6 Photos
- Comments: "Small female hummingbird with fine decurved bill, short tail &
long wings extending past the tip of the tail. She was smaller than the
resident Annas females in my yard, and made a completely different call --
it was the high pitched "stirrr, stirrr" call described in Sibleys, and
exactly matched the female Costa's "twitter calls" recorded on iBird. She
was feeding on my butterfly bush, and actively chased off the neighboring
Annas females. Photos to follow."
