Sadly I heard gunshots this morning as well on the Windsor Locks Canal State Park path. I believed they were coming from other side of river. Probably should’ve left in hindsight…
Between yesterday and today had 29 species including:
2 Bald Eagles perched high overlooking river
Peregrine Falcon - quite vocal
Ring billed gulls on river, Mallards, Wood ducks on canal. The large flocks of geese usually present have moved on.
10-15 Cedar Waxwings feasting on berries
Pileated, Hairy, Downy, Red Bellied Woodpeckers
Winter Wren and vocal Carolina Wren
Tufted titmouse, Black-capped Chickadee, White throat sparrows, White breasted nut hatch
*Merlin ID’d Snow Buntings for three consecutive days, but unable to visualize. Park closes on the 14th for the season
